ALPS® Silicone Skin Lotion is a hypoallergenic skin lotion with no fragrance or colourants. It is specially designed for prosthesis users with sensitive skin. The lotion reduces discomfort by lubricating the skin with a 100% silicone-based formula (dimethicone). Suitable for use with prosthetic liners.

  • Wearing a prosthesis can often cause dry and sore skin, because the skin cannot produce enough natural moisture through the sebaceous glands. The skin of the residual limb usually has a low oil level, so it can be sensitive and dry. The skin may feel rough and worn because it cannot retain enough moisture. After washing, the skin at the end of the residual limb can often feel tight and uncomfortable if a skin-care product is not applied.
    The main ingredient of ALPS® Silicone Skin Lotion is silicone, which forms a thin protective layer on the skin surface. This helps: retain skin moisture, keep the skin soft and hydrated, prevent excessive dryness.
    Daily use of ALPS® Silicone Skin Lotion also helps the skin cope better with the effects of excessive sweating. At the same time, silicone does not interfere with the skin’s natural sweating process, but helps retain moisture and reduce drying of the skin.
  • Directions for use:
    Cracked and flaking skin is a sign of very dry, dehydrated skin. In that case a small amount of ALPS® Silicone Skin Lotion should be applied. Dryness can be worsened by: extreme temperatures, excessive sweating. These factors can cause flaking, cracking and a tight feeling. Such skin is often tight over the bones and may look dull.
    Squeeze a few drops of lotion onto the skin or into the palm and apply a thin layer. A small amount is enough. Massage the lotion into the skin until fully absorbed. Use as needed and always after cleaning the residual limb.
    Many prosthesis users have noticed good results when they first clean the residual limb with a hypoallergenic prosthetic cleanser and then use ALPS® Silicone Skin Lotion.

    Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone
  • Storage conditions:
    Store the bottle in a cool, dry place. The product can be used for 12 months after opening.
  • Warnings and precautions:
    For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not use on open wounds or infected skin areas.  If contact with the eyes occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
