THE PROCESS OF GETTING A PROSTHESIS
After the surgical wound has healed, a prosthesis is made for the patient. The right prosthesis is chosen in cooperation between the physiotherapist, the prosthetist and the patient. We support the prosthesis user throughout the ordering process. The process starts on the basis of a doctor’s referral
At the first visit to the prosthetist, a general physical examination is carried out to assess the patient’s endurance and suitability for a prosthesis. A plaster cast is then taken, from which a custom socket is made for the client.
At the next visit the socket is fitted and the prosthesis is tested for the first time, checking how the socket and components fit the patient. Depending on the client’s wishes, prostheses with different designs can be made

Appointment with the prosthetist
1. Book an appointment
We are in Tallinn, at Sõle 16. If you cannot visit us for health reasons, we also make home visits across Estonia.
2. At the first appointment
At the first appointment the prosthetist identifies the purpose of using the prosthesis and takes the necessary measurements and a cast. Please come to the visit in comfortable clothing.
3. Testing the prosthesis
For a first prosthesis, close cooperation with the prosthetist is important to achieve the best fit. For this you will need to come in for fittings.
Applications and price list
Social Insurance Board benefit
The Social Insurance Board reimburses an insured person at least 90% of the cost of a prosthesis.

To receive the benefit you need a paper assistive-device certificate issued by a family doctor, treating doctor, general practitioner, resident doctor or a rehabilitation team.
The certificate must state which prosthesis the person needs.
